Electro Scan (UK) Ltd. is delighted to announce multi-sensor, machine-intelligent pressurised clean water pipe inspection featuring its patented low voltage conductivity technology – available in summer 2020 in the United Kingdom and European markets.

This new pipe condition assessment solution includes the company’s flagship low voltage conductivity sensor capable detecting pipe defects contributing to leaks, to within 1 cm horizontal accuracy and simultaneously estimating defect leakage rates in liters per second (LPS).

The ground-breaking inspection platform also includes legacy in-pipe tethered acoustic sensor technology to listen for leaks and a high-resolution closed-circuit television (CCTV) to observe internal pipe conditions while offering navigational capabilities in potable water mains ranging from 76-1500mm in diameter.

Electro Scan’s multi-sensor approach saves utility owners on leak detection costs by providing three data sets per pipe insertion, allowing water managers to more quickly focus on the highest value leaks to repair, thus reducing overall system losses.

Pipe inspection low voltage conductivity technology developed by Electro Scan was included in the American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) First Edition Water Supply Manual of Practice – M77, “Condition Assessment of Water Mains” published in June 2019. It was the only technology listed to perform leak detection for Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP), and for trenchless in-situ resin linings for water mains.

This innovative condition assessment and quality assurance solution for UK & European water companies has been made available to directly address the aggressive water loss reductions required by AMP7.

In addition to being the first device able to measure pipe leaks in liters per second, the technology’s ability to document the water tightness of new or rehabilitated water mains gives owners unprecedented CAPEX planning control and priority setting not previously available.

The company exclusively offers services directly to water companies or indirectly through authorized partners.

To expedite introducing low voltage inspection for pressurised water mains, , Electro Scan has incorporated the technology into an existing UK-based and industry-accepted water pipe insertion & retrieval solution – with over 4,000 successful potable water deployments worldwide, and approved for use in public water supplies.

The company’s multi-sensor platform can also assess large diameter water transmission pipes and pressurised rising sewer mains, known in the United States as force mains.
