It’s Time to Get Serious About SLI – From Inspection to Inventory

Electro Scan and Entech Engineering have partnered to bring the Service Line Inventory (SLI) Show on the road! Our SWORDFISH Roadshow will be stopping at select cities across PA. You’re invited to join us as we present and demo two powerful tools to help you make serious progress on your SLI.

What you’ll learn:

  • Identify Service Line Materials (Lead, Copper, Plastic, Iron, Galvanized), without Digging or Excavating using Electro Scan’s SWORDFISH.
  • Integrate SWORDFISH data into Entech’s SLI database, to master your inventory data and seamlessly report to PADEP.

SWORDFISH is developed in accordance with the American Water Works Association, Manual M77, Water Main Condition Assessment, to measure electrical resistance using low-voltage conductivity to locate and assess buried pipe materials.

Using its patented machine-intelligent low-voltage (i.e. non-acoustic, non-electro magnetic) technology, Electro Scan first discovered its ability to locate lead pipes when it was used to assess Asbestos Cement (AC) pipes; finding lead soldered joints used to seal pipe joints. Aided by the major difference in resistivity of pipe materials, Electro Scan developed SWORDFISH to enter pressurized pipes with ½-inch diameters with multiple 90o bends and can automatically identify one or more Copper, Galvanized, Plastic & Lead Pipe Materials, in a Single Water Service Line.

In consultation with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP), Entech has developed a service line (SL) Inventory database that provides not only PA DEP-approved inventory reporting, but also ongoing document maintenance of all your water service-related documents. Easily import your billing data to build your inventory in bulk rather than tedious, individual line-by-line data entry with our user-friendly interface. Supporting documentation can be stored and organized electronically in the database for easy access during PA DEP audits and future use by your water system staff. Your files are digitized, organized, and ready at the click of a button! Our database system automates uploads of Swordfish investigative results, eliminating manual data entry efforts. Come experience for yourself what dozens of water system operators are already raving about!

Go even further with GIS
GIS Dashboard and data collection forms provide additional support to SL inventory efforts. By allowing water systems to visualize and manage the inventory data more effectively, the GIS Dashboard is useful in developing a plan to prioritize the continued investigations of SL material identifications and the replacement of lead and galvanized requiring replacement (GRR) lines. Mobile forms can be used to collect and enter data directly via the GIS Dashboard for easy integration into your inventory. Easily create customized views of your data for public outreach and education of the SL inventory project progress.
