The More Leaks You Find, The More Money You Can Make Fixing Them!
Electro Scan Finds Leaks that CCTV Cannot.
CCTV has been a great tool for plumbers. When a customer reported a back-up, a quick view of CCTV might show debris, grease, corrosion, or other problems that may need immediate attention. But, plumbers realize the real money is in finding AND showing their customers ‘indisputable’ evidence of potential leaks that can justify higher margin $$$ relining & repair projects. Yet, CCTV has never been a reliable tool to show defects to support a recommendation for higher revenue work. Electro Scan technologies can.
Introducing Electro Scan Inc.’s ES-38TM for Sewer Laterals. First introduced at the 2012 Pumper Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, the ES-38TM represents a breakthrough in finding defects that cause leaks, and more importantly, providing scientific reporting to support your recommended repair.
And we all know the first rule in plumbing, if you find more leaks you can make more money!
ES-38TM for Sewer Laterals provides scientific reporting of all defects that can cause leaks — black & white evidence to show your customers and help up-sell to longer-lasting, higher margin solutions.
Use Electro Scan Technology as Your First Line of Defense Against Customer Claims!
A recent lawsuit claimed a customer called a national plumbing contractor after her sewer backed up and was told she had to pay $8,750 to repair a broken pipeline. Later, a city inspector was called out to the property and told the customer that she had overpaid and that there was no indication her pipe had been broken.
Even if the city inspector had pressure tested the line BEFORE and AFTER the repair, or televised the line, electro scan is the only assessment tool available to determine defects in a pipe.
Electro Scan Inc.’s ES-38TM for Sewer Laterals is your next generation tool for sewer leak detection, and your first line of defense against customer claims, when visual observations from CCTV are never enough!
It’s a Good Time to be in Sewers!
The aging sewer infrastructure provides a steady stream of income to commercial plumbers and sewer contractors. Old pipes, poor design, root intrusion, over-capacity of sewer mains, faulty connections to the sewer main, and over-zealous landscaping, are just some of the contributing factors to sewer infiltration that lead to back-ups in residential and commercial customers. And municipal utilities are helping, too. With new laws being enated that require homeowners to certify that there are ‘NO LEAKS’ in their sewer laterals, before closing the sale of their home, and in California, able to force homeowners and businesses to fix faulty laterals (California Assemby Bill AB-741), business should be booming for commercial plumbers looking to expand their drain service business.
The Look of Things to Come
Finding sewer leaks has never been easier. And, convincing customers you’ve found the location of their biggest leaks, has never been easier, too.
While CCTV push cameras are on every truck of a commercial plumber, it is commonly acknowledged that CCTV can’t find leaks in pipe. Sure, you might get lucky and have a customer leave his garden hose running over night and see water coming inside a pipe, or see an obvious joint defect. But, 98 out of 100 times, CCTV will not give you that unshakeable evidence that your customer is looking for to convince him or her they need to reline or repair their lateral.

1. Insert Air Push Rod
Use the air push rod to position the plug at the end of the pipe. It is important that the plug be within 2ft of the connection to the main in order to obtain a complete reading of the pipe.
2. Insert Probe
Push the probe into the pipe to the 2ft mark before inserting the diffuser and flooding the pipe.

3. Insert Diffuser
The diffuser should be positioned to serve both to flood the pipe and, once filled, drip the Electro Scan salt solution, prefereably during the flooding phase, to insure that a good quality signal is transmitted.
4. Inflate Air Push Rod
When positioned properly within 2ft of the main, inflate the plug to 15psi to seal the pipe so that it can be flooded. The pipe should be totally flooded because the ES-38 must be fully submerged for the entire length of the pipe while recording the scan.
5. Fill Pipe with Water and Salt Solution
When connected to a water hose, the salt solution poured in the top is automatically infused. You may need to refill the diffuser with salt solution periodically during the scan.
6. Position Ground Stake
The electrical connection from the probe is completed through an earth ground. You may need to pour a pint or two of salt solution around the stake to insure a good connection.
7. Connect Ground Reel
Connect the ground stake to the probe reel to complete the connection.
8. Turn ‘ON’ Probe Module
9. Turn ‘ON’ Distance Module
10. Push Probe to Plug, then Press Record on Smartphone, then Pull Plug to Automatically Record Readings on Smartphone

Tell Your Customers Exactly Where They Need to do a Repair
Using the ES-38TM for Sewer Laterals

1. Scientifically-Proves to Customers that their Sewer Is Leaking, Risking Infiltration-Related Back-Ups. Undeniable reporting helps convince even the most reluctant homeowners and businesses, that repairs are needed, now!
2. Its Your First Line of Defense Against Customer Claims. CCTV inspections will not show where the leaks are located, but electro scan will. Don’t be a victim of resentful homeowners or business owners, and don’t let city inspectors make assumptions about a sewer lateral if they haven’t electro scanned the pipe themselves.
3. Use the Critical Sewer’s Web Application to Review Field Inspections from all Plumbers. See who is having the most success in up-selling their customers, and drill down into their individual inspection results.
4. Gain a Key ‘advertised’ First Mover Advantage. Beat your competitors to the punch by becoming an early adopter and market leader using Electro Scan!
5. Add New Services to Your Bag of Tricks. Start offering to ‘certify’ your competitor’s most recent repairs and pipe lining projects, and find the leaks they missed.
